Towards an ethical and supportive practice, I completed 1,200 hours (three Clinical Pastoral Education/CPE units) in clinical training as a chaplain with the St. Camillus Center for Spiritual Care. Under the mentorship of chaplains at St. Camillus, I served as an interfaith spiritual care provider at LA County + USC public hospital in the general medicine unit, cancer unit, and emergency room. I also served as a spiritual care provider at Homeboy Industries, a community dedicated to providing support, training, and hope to formerly incarcerated and gang-affiliated community members. Part of my spiritual care practice training incorporates contemplative, compassion-based approaches as part of my training as a facilitator at the Center for Engaged Compassion.
