On the evening of January 22, Decentered Arts Studio became a quiet, focused workshop of hands, fabric, and conversation during Radical Mending: Explorations in Repair.
Guided by facilitators C. Con Yeh and Even Howard, participants gathered with garments in need of care and began stitching—not just cloth, but connection. Drawing from fiber arts, crafts, and Radical Psychiatry, Con and Even shared practical mending techniques alongside reflective frameworks that treated repair as both a material and metaphysical act.
As needles moved through worn seams and frayed edges, the room explored how care, attention, and collaboration could resist disposability and nurture community resilience. With shared tools, gentle guidance, and space to experiment, the evening unfolded as a collective practice in slowing down, reinforcing what had been stressed, and imagining how we mend ourselves and one another—one stitch at a time.
